The Ultra Max is based on the same compact body concept as the Ultra Swede, although the mahogany body is a bit larger and has a strong top made of flamed maple. A mahogany neck is glued into this body using a tenon connection system. Its scale length is 25.50”, the H-Expander™ tension rod is also at the start and the fingerboard is made of Resinator™. The slim and "ultra-comfortably fast" neck is only surpassed by our Custom 60 Alnico-5 pickups with brushed aluminum caps, which produce the assertive sound that you expect from this instrument. The Custom 60 pickups of the Ultra Max contain a nylon-coated wire with a special winding and an Alnico 5 magnet - this principle is also used in the Custom 58. However, a Custom 60 is even more assertive and biting than a Custom 58, which is known to have a vintage sound. A separate volume control with R/C circuit is available for each pickup, so that even clean sound variants can be easily adjusted. The master tone control contains a push/pull circuit for quickly selecting fat humbucker and deeply clean single coil sounds. The Ultra Max not only offers the power, long sustain and lightning-fast response of the Ultra Swede, but also a fresh sound vocabulary with more flexibility and - thanks to the compact body - a comfortable playing culture. With its longer 25.50” scale length, the Ultra Max is also suitable for “drop” tuning. Guitarists looking for a flat body and a simmering sound will definitely get their money's worth here.
